Seek God’s Will
Great joy comes from knowing that God will lead you through difficult times. Out of hardships pain and sufferings in life come God’s infinite blessings; that’s why we have the Psalms.
Psalms 27
The Lord is my light and my salvation; Whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the strength of my life; Of whom shall I be afraid?
When the wicked came against me To eat up my flesh,
My enemies and foes, They stumbled and fell.
Though an army may encamp against me, My heart shall not fear;
Though war may rise against me, In this I will be confident.
One thing I have desired of the Lord, That will I seek:
That I may dwell in the house of the Lord All the days of my life,
To behold the beauty of the Lord, And to inquire in His temple.
For in the time of trouble He shall hide me in His pavilion;
In the secret place of His tabernacle He shall hide me;
He shall set me high upon a rock.
And now my head shall be lifted up above my enemies all around me;
Therefore I will offer sacrifices of joy in His tabernacle;
I will sing, yes, I will sing praises to the Lord. Hear, O Lord, when I cry with my voice!
Have mercy also upon me, and answer me. When You said, “Seek My face,”
My heart said to You, “Your face, Lord, I will seek.” Do not hide Your face from me;
Do not turn Your servant away in anger; You have been my help;
Do not leave me nor forsake me, O God of my salvation.
When my father and my mother forsake me, Then the Lord will take care of me.
Teach me Your way, O Lord, And lead me in a smooth path, because of my enemies.
Do not deliver me to the will of my adversaries; For false witnesses have risen against me,
And such as breathe out violence. I would have lost heart, unless I had believed
That I would see the goodness of the Lord In the land of the living.
Wait on the Lord; Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart;
Wait, I say, on the Lord!
Wait on the Lord and know his promises and know his word. Seek God in every season!
How do we get passed the hard times?
We must trust in the Lord, have hope in the Lord, and have faith and confidence.
If your house is built on the rock, then when the storm comes, your house will continue to stand because your house is built on a firm foundation.
Seeking God’s Will
When David was facing a question of pursuing after the Philistines who had stolen and plundered Ziklag. He said “Bring me an ephod (sardonyx stone) because I need to seek the Lord about whether to pursue and take back what the enemy has stolen”. If I do this and God doesn’t want me to, I’ll be defeated. But if God wants me to pursue and fight, then there is no power that can defeat me! If God gives me light on this situation then I can fight this battle knowing that God is on my side! But sometimes the stones would do nothing. What that meant was God doesn’t want to answer that now. What do you do when the stones say “maybe”. Don’t you wish you had a sardonyx stone like Urim and Thummim to tell you God’s will?
The White Stone
Revelation 2:17
He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes I will give some of the hidden manna to eat. And I will give him a white stone, and on the stone a new name written which no one knows except him who receives it.
The Lord is telling the church that each one of us is given that sacred stone, that resplendent diamond of Urim and Thummim. God speaks to us in Urim and Thummin today, through the Word. If we study and read the Word of God and ask the will of Heaven for our life, for every decision, in any place, in any time- just like with David, the will of God will be revealed to us.
As surely as God lives, there is an answer for your life and for every decision that you make in God.
