Overcoming The Lie

We’ve all been at a place in our life where the devil tried to feed us lies and tear us down, but God holds the truth. He loves us and he’s our hope and he’s our future.

The devil is the most skilled liar. He is the father of lies. He convinced one third of the angels in heaven to rebel with him.

The devil will try to twist God’s word and make you think he really didn’t mean what he said. God is the truth and we have to compare what the devil is trying to tell us with what God’s word tell us.

Devil in the darkness

Job had been tested by Satan, and had lost everything. His kids were gone. His wife told him to rebuke God already. He had lost all of his livestock, and his body was covered in boils.

A friend came to Job: This friend made himself out to be spiritual, but you can’t believe everything you hear even if they claim to be spiritual. This friend told him that fear fell upon him and a spirit appeared to him and said to him “Shall mortal man be more just than God. Shall a man be more pure than his maker?”. The devil is using this friend to tell Job that Job is nothing and he will never live up to God and he should just give up. This friend brought up the angels that got kicked out of heaven. This friend is trying to get in Job’s head and tell him if God kicked angels out of heaven that he can’t trust man either, and this friend even goes to compare man to a bug that had been squashed. This spirit is trying to convince Job that God doesn’t love him and that he’s nothing more than a bug.

Job 4:12-20
Now a thing was secretly brought to me, and mine ear received a little thereof. In thoughts from the visions of the night, when deep sleep falleth on men, Fear came upon me, and trembling, which made all my bones to shake. Then a spirit passed before my face; the hair of my flesh stood up: It stood still, but I could not discern the form thereof: an image was before mine eyes, there was silence, and I heard a voice, saying, Shall mortal man be more just than God? shall a man be more pure than his maker? Behold, he put no trust in his servants; and his angels he charged with folly: How much less in them that dwell in houses of clay, whose foundation is in the dust, which are crushed before the moth? They are destroyed from morning to evening: they perish for ever without any regarding it.

But God says

The friend asked, Shall mortal man be more just than God? shall a man be more pure than his maker? Revelation 1:4-6 says Grace be unto you, and peace, from him which is, and which was, and which is to come; and from the seven Spirits which are before his throne; And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood, And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

The devil tries to tear us down and make us give up. Don’t believe the lies of the enemy that he whispers to us. The devil tries to remind us of our past and make us abandon our relationship with God. But, God says he washed us from our sins in his own blood.  Jesus love us and he’s for us. Who the Lord set free is free indeed.
