Awaken A New Day
This a time of year where we are drawn to evaluate our spiritual lives. We must remember that God is always there when we reach the point of awakening a new day.
This is a time of change for Harvest- a time for changing what we have known as “normal” for many years and moving into a new season. We know God is in control. It’s also a time of year where we are drawn to evaluate our spiritual lives. We must remember that God is always there when we reach the point of awakening a new day.
Brother Larry preached a few weeks ago about Job. The message was to praise God when you are full, and praise him when you are empty. God gave Job a fresh start. God blessed him with more than what he had before his losses. He went from sick to full health. He went from disaster to total restoration. The fresh start came only through his continued faith in God.
A New Day
God can give us a fresh start. God can turn things around and do something new, something fresh, something that changes our lives forever. Some of us have been struggling with a situation for so long that we are physically exhausted, emotionally drained, and the future seems so uncertain. King David felt the same way when he began to write Psalm 57. He was in a dark time in his life. David cries out in verse one, “Have mercy on me, my God, have mercy on me, for in you I take refuge. I will take refuge in the shadow of your wings until the disaster has passed.”
Psalm 57
Have mercy on me, my God, have mercy on me, for in you I take refuge. I will take refuge in the shadow of your wings until the disaster has passed. I cry out to God Most High, to God, who vindicates me. He sends from heaven and saves me, rebuking those who hotly pursue me—God sends forth his love and his faithfulness. I am in the midst of lions; I am forced to dwell among ravenous beasts—men whose teeth are spears and arrows, whose tongues are sharp swords. Be exalted, O God, above the heavens; let your glory be over all the earth. They spread a net for my feet—I was bowed down in distress. They dug a pit in my path—but they have fallen into it themselves. My heart, O God, is steadfast, my heart is steadfast; I will sing and make music. Awake, my soul! Awake, harp and lyre! I will awaken the dawn. I will praise you, Lord, among the nations; I will sing of you among the peoples. For great is your love, reaching to the heavens; your faithfulness reaches to the skies. Be exalted, O God, above the heavens; let your glory be over all the earth.
Joy Comes In The Morning
Psalm 30:5
For his anger lasts only a moment, but his favor lasts a lifetime; weeping may stay for the night, but rejoicing comes in the morning.
Joy comes when the new day breaks. David was tired of the darkness. In Psalm 57:8 and in Psalm 108:2, David says “I will awaken the dawn”. David was determined to awake the morning himself by rejoicing in the Lord.
Satan likes nothing more than to knock you off track. He wants to put a detour in the path of your purpose. Satan wants to see you scrambling for your life instead of being at your best. You never know how close you are to your breakthrough. You have to have faith. David said the only thing I know to do is awaken a new dawn. David was willing to walk whatever path God had for him until the new day began- until the new season took place.
Speak With Authority To Our Situation
It’s time that we speak with authority to our situation. God is able to turn our lives around. God is able to set us free from our hurt. God is able to turn our darkness into a glorious day just like he did in Genesis 1:2-3 when he spoke ‘”Let there be light”, and there was light”.
